unification in Nepal...but what is the road?

CPN-M set to bring fringe communist forces under one umbrella
KATHMANDU, JAN 31 – In a move aimed at bolstering the left forces, the CPN-Maoist is likely to announce unification with the CPN (Unified) and CPN-Revolutionary within a month. Both the CPN-R headed by one-time Maoist rebel Mani Thapa, and the CPN (Unified) led by Pari Thapa, a well-known communist face in Nepali politics, have made decision to that respect. Meanwhile, a CPN-Maoist politburo meeting is expected to approve the agenda of party unification this week, leaders said.
“We expect to formally merge within a month or so. Very little remains to be done,” said Mani Thapa. While the Thapa duo are leading the talks team of their respective parties, CPN-M talks team will be headed by Vice-chairman CP Gajurel. Leaders from both sides said talks are heading in positive direction, indicating that the unification would take place soon as they sort out a few things including technical and ideological aspects of the unification. CPN-M efforts for unification follow a recent decision by the party’s Central Committee meeting to bring the scattered fringe communists together under its umbrella. During the meeting, CPN-M Chairman Mohan Baidya had said that his party should be focusing on becoming a pivotal force in communist politics in the country.

India - Slain Maoist Azad’s wife names Chidambaram as conspirator

Padma had recorded the sworn statement in pursuance of filing of a murder case against the policemen who had participated in the encounter, which also saw the killing of journalist Hemchandra Pandey. K. Padma, wife of slain Maoist Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad, on Wednesday named former Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and four top police officers from Andhra Pradesh as conspirators in the alleged fake encounter killing of the extremist leader on July 2, 2010 in Adilabad district.
In her statement recorded before Adilabad Judicial First Class Magistrate Mary Danamma, the petitioner pleaded for inclusion of the names of the then AP Director General of Police R.R. Girish Kumar, then SIB DIG Shashidhar Reddy, then Adilabad Superintendent of Police P. Promod Kumar and Additional SP (Operations) S. Tripathi besides the Home Minister. Padma had recorded the sworn statement in pursuance of filing of a murder case against the policemen who had participated in the encounter which also saw the killing of journalist Hemchandra Pandey. The latter’s wife Babita had recorded her statement on November 29, last year.
The Magistrate subsequently posted for further evidence on February 7 for taking cognizance of the petition. Swamy Agnivesh, who has been cited as a witness, is likely to record his statement before the Magistrate on that day.

India - people's war advances!

Maoists blast coffee pulping unit at Chapagedda
The attack was reportedly led by leaders of Galikonda area committee; coffee berries spread for drying and a tractor were set afire. Twenty armed cadres of the CPI (Maoist) accompanied by 50 militia members blasted two coffee pulping units and a godown of the AP Forest Development Corporation’s coffee pulping yard at Chapagedda in GK Veedhi mandal late on Tuesday night. Coffee berries spread over the drying yards and a tractor were set on fire.
A letter addressed to the Regional Manager and Divisional Manager of APFDC and left behind by the east division committee of the Maoist party said that the attack was in protest against the killing of party members in encounters, which it said were fake; against Operation Green Hunt and to demand the government to stop establishing new police stations and police outposts in Visakha Agency. They were meant to suppress the Girijans who were fighting for their rights over coffee plantations and against the proposed mining of bauxite. The party demanded APFDC to leave Visakha Agency. It also gave call for a bandh in the east division on Thursday with the above demands.
The attack was reportedly led by Azad and Kavita, leaders of the Galikonda area committee of the Maoist party, and Ravi, said to be the official spokesman of the Andhra Orissa border special zone of the party. The machinery and buildings were allegedly blasted using mines. APFDC estimated the loss around Rs. 30 lakh. The Maoists were said to have held a meeting after blasting the pulping units.

India - Appeal to support the indefinite Hunger Strike of Nagpur prison inmates from 30th January onwards

stop_repression_free_all_political_prisoners
Dear Friends
Inmates of the Nagpur Central Prison of Maharashtra have begun an indefinite Hunger Strike from 30th January 2014. At least 177 undertrial prisoners including 7 women (those charged under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act, for murder, etc.) have participated in the strike. It is a settled principle in law and also directive of the apex court of this country that “bail is the rule and jail is an exception”. However, despite repeated directives from the Supreme Court to grant bail at the earliest and that the gravity of the charge should not be the reason for considering bail, the opposite is implemented in practice.
The prison population is growing due to an ever increasing number of undertrial prisoners are languishing in Jail while their families and friends continue with their futile anxious wait outside. Under trial prisoners are thus deprived of their constitutional right to bail, physical attendance in courts and a fair and speedy trial due to indefinite lingering of bail decisions, procrastinated trials and trial by video conferencing. The move towards camera trials distances these prisoners further from their lawyers, the court, their ability to present their own case. It will only continue their sequestration in prisons. It is for these reasons, we inmates of the Nagpur prison see no alternative but to go ahead with an indefinite Hunger Strike till the demands are achieved.
A memorandum including the following demands has been sent to Honorable Principal Judge of Bombay High Court (Nagpur Bench) and others through The Superintendent of the Nagpur Central Prison Nagpur on 20th January 2014:
1. The directives of Honorable Supreme Court that “Bail is the rule and Jail is an exception” should be implemented as a principle regarding bail and bail should be granted within a definite time period.
2. After a charge sheet is filed, even those undertials charged with supposedly serious crimes should also be granted bail.
3. In order to establish the right of fair and speedy trial. The Judgment should be given within a relatively definite and reasonable time period. If the case is pending due to some unavoidable reasons then bail should be granted, especially to those undertrial prisoners whose bails have been refused earlier.
4. The right to a fair trial cannot be established through Video Conference (V.C.) method so this should not be an option during trial and an undertrial prisoner must be physically produced before their respective courts during trial. Friends, we are committed to sit on an indefinite hunger strike till our demands achieved. The success of our struggle cannot be achieved without your solidarity and active support from outside. So we humbly and hopefully appeal that you kindly extend your support in our favour.
Please send letters and Fax messages to the following authorities urging them to meet our just and fair demands.

25th ID - Report on the large activities in Germany for international day of action in support of the people's war in India on 25th January 2014 - also in German

revolutionary greetings
Indien Solidarity (Germany)

Report on the activities in Germany for international day of action in support of the people's war in India on 25th January 2014.
In Germany different actions regarding the international day of action in solidarity with the people's war in India were realized by various anti-imperialist organizations. In Hamburg, the actions were carried out by the League against imperialist aggression (BGIA). Two thousand leaflets were distributed with the translated call of the International Committee and a call to action in Hamburg.
There were hundreds of posters glued especially in working-class neighborhoods and near political centers. On Wednesday, 22nd January, the film Chakravyuh was shown to an audience familiar with the issue. In the following discussion it was clarified that it is a reactionary film. There was critizism, inter alia, of the presentation of the comrades and the reactionaries. Furthermore, parallels were drawn to earlier situations of highly successful people's wars, where similar composition was used: Movies which admit problems in society, but at the same time making propaganda for a reconciliation and peace with the old. On 25th January despite 10° below zero some 30 people participated in the rally of the BGIA. Speeches were held by ATIK, the Network freedom for all political prisoners, the Red Women's Committee of Hamburg and SoL. The moderation clarified in relation to the current situation in Hamburg, what real danger zones (“Gefahrengebiete”) for reactionaries are and stressed out the importance of people's war for the battle here in the country.
We are particularly pleased about the activities of young revolutionaries from Leipzig, who have realized important actions. A banner was hung up at the Tubestation Sellerhausen and an expressive graffiti in the neighborhood park in Rabet was painted. In addition, the Anti-Fascist Offensive Leipzig (AOL) mobilized for the day of action with their own propaganda that highlighted the connection between the struggle of the Indian comrades with the struggle in this country. In Berlin the Red Youth Berlin (RJB) distributed hundreds of leaflets and organized an solidarity evening where revolutionary music of the cultural groups of the Indian party was played. There were calls for the day of action and other internationalist and anti-imperialist propaganda. In Berlin-Neukölln slogans like "Freedom for the revolutionaries in India! " were sprayed by young revolutionaries. In Cologne activists sprayed the slogan "Stop Green Hunt!" inside the railway station of Köln-Mülheim.
In general, the activities regarding the international day of action were at the level of the previous days of action. The efforts of friends in Leipzig, entering the solidarity work, were quite important because they bring new ideas and new momentums to the work.
Unconditional release of all revolutionary prisoners and prisoners of war!
Victory to the People's War in India!
Workers of all countries and peoples of the world unite!
League against imperialist agression

Bedingungslose Freilassung aller politischer Gefangenen in Indien!
Neben den Führern und Führerinnen, Kadern und Mitgliedern der PLGA sind mehr als 90% der Genannten Adivasi Dorfbewohnerinnen und -bewohner, die Widerstand gegen erzwungene Evakuierungen geleistet haben; Bauern und Bäuerinnen, die gegen Abmachungen zur Ausbeutung des Volkes und zur weiteren imperialistischen Plünderung natürlicher Ressourcen gekämpft haben, die zwischen Regierungen und transnationalen Konzernen geschlossen werden sollten; Aktivisten der nationalen Minderheiten, die sich gegen die aufkommende Bedrohung durch den kommunalistischen Hindufaschismus organisiert haben;

INDIEN!
SIEG DEM VOLKSKRIEG IN INDIEN!

25. Januar 2014
Bedingungslose Freilassung aller politischer Gefangenen in Indien!

SoL, 25.01.2014

Bedingungslose Freilassung aller politischen Gefangenen in Indien!
Keine Befreiung ohne Revolution! Die Rebellion ist gerechtfertigt!
Bedingungslose Freilassung aller politischen Gefangenen in Indien!

India - In solidarity with the Maruti Workers' Struggle: Even through the darkest of times...Their Hands shall make History!

Let all who will
Eat quietly the bread of shame.
I cannot,
Without complaining loud and long.
Tasting its bitterness in my throat,
And feeling to my very soul
It's wrong.
For honest work
You proffer me poor pay,
for honest dreams
Your spit is in my face,
And so my fist is clenched Today-
To strike your face.

A storm has been brewing for over two years now in the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki in Gurgaon. A struggle that had started with a sit-in strike or occupation on 4th June 2011 for the most fundamental constitutionally guaranteed right to unionize has by today traversed through many a terminations, suspensions, intimidations by company goons, brutal assaults by the police, lathicharges, indiscriminate arrests and custodial tortures. But today, as the Maruti workers approach Delhi towards the culmination of their 15 days padyatra from Kaithal, what stands out most strikingly through these darkest of times is their extraordinary tenacity, determination and zeal to carry on the fight. With this determination they not only won their right to unionize but also carried forward the struggle for regularization of contract workers and against the most inhuman working conditions. It is the same determination that today has inspired an unprecedented solidarity amongst the workers that reverberates through the industrial belt of Gurgaon and the entire NCR region. And again, it is the same determination that is increasingly sounding ominous to the state-corporate nexus and the ruling classes that in the context of the deepening imperialist crisis are ever more desperate to preserve and spread its exploitative tentacles upon the oppressed.
To traverse through the years, from 2011 till date, with the Maruti workers, is to experience the sheer brutality and robotic regime with which labour is being extracted by the big corporates adding to their super-profits flouting all labour laws in complete connivance and backing of the state. Even as profits of the company were soaring and the consumer price index rose by 50%, the real wages of Maruti workers rose by just 5.5% between 2007 and 2011. While the annual remuneration of Maruti’s CEOs increased by 419% the share of the worker’s wages in the net sales of the company dropped from 2.24% in 2007 to 1.94% in 2011. Forced to work for more than eight hours a day with minimal lunch/tea breaks and sometimes even without toilet breaks, the workers are forced to meet the target of 1 car every 42 seconds. Amidst rampant contractualization and insecure working agreements, these are a few glimpses of the illegal and inhuman working conditions of the plant that the workers sought to struggle against. And for this ‘crime’ they of course invited the ire of not just the management that imposed ‘good conduct bonds’ and termination of union leaders, but also the ire of the feudal institutions like the khaap and the might of the Indian state’s police, paramilitary and judiciary. The workers’ protests and strikes faced severe crackdown, internal sabotage, indiscriminate arrests, imposition of 144 to disallow gatherings in the entire industrial belt, as the state aligned itself blatantly in favour of the management.
The struggle of the workers and the wrath of the state-management nexus reached new heights after the 18th July 2012 incident. The suspension of a worker for protesting against casteist abuse by his supervisor once again triggered the anger of the workers. As police and company’s bouncers clamped down heavily upon the workers the ensuing violence led to the death of a HR manager. Union leaders along with about 55 named and 600 unnamed workers were immediately booked, 546 workers were arbitrarily terminated, and indiscriminate witch-hunt, arrest and harassment of workers and their families began. Facing brutal custodial torture 148 of them still remain behind bars as the struggle spread to the hinterlands gathering immense support with Kaithal becoming its nerve centre. Braving the lathicharges, water canons and tear gases the workers under the banner of their hard-earned Maruti Suzuki Workers Union continued their protests and dharnas demanding the unconditional release of the 148 workers and the reinstatement of a total of 2300 terminated workers over the various phases of the struggle.
It is not a surprise that despite the scale, proportion and significance of these struggles in such close proximity to the country’s capital, they have been virtually been under a media blackout. Even the ongoing Padyatra of the Maruti workers is largely kept out of the public gaze by the corporate media. But then, the same is true for all those struggles aimed against the same state-corporate nexus whether in factories, the forests or in the fields. From the workers in the production lines of Gurgaon to the adivasis in Bastar, the most oppressed of this country today are locked in battle against the same feudal-imperialist stranglehold of a system that is tottering under crisis. The fight for a society free of exploitation is gaining ground everyday to announce the end of this oppressive system. In this context, it our responsibility to extend our unflinching solidarity to the struggling workers of Maruti and elsewhere. Because ultimately, even through the darkest of times, their hands shall make history.

E a CNTE/CUT?

Croatia - Crveni pozdrav našim vojnicima u Indiji!

25th ID -Bedingungslose Freilassung aller politischen Gefangenen in Indien! AUSTRIA

//

Frequent threats from rebels worry UCIL officials
JAMSHEDPUR: In the wake of Maoist posters appearing every now and then on heavy vehicles that ferry Uranium ore from Bagjata mines to Jadugora processing unit, in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, the Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) has expressed apprehensions over excavation work. The company has said if posters with warnings continue to appear on the trucks for long the uranium excavation work shall be hampered here. For the last several weeks, posters instructing transporters to stop ferrying uranium ore from the Bagjata mines have been appearing on the trucks at regular intervals causing fear and tension among the transporters.
The CPI (Maoist) squad leaders have threatened transporters with dire consequences if they continue to do business with the UCIL as local people are allegedly opposed to the excavation work at Bagjata. “We are experiencing a modest slowdown in transportation work owing to Maoist threats and probably the enrichment work will suffer in the long run if they (rebels) continue doing the same in the future,” said chairman and managing director of UCIL, Diwakar Acharya. The banned outfit had been demanding permanent jobs for the locals in the company as compensation against land acquisition in Bagjata is already mired in controversy. “Over 150 displaced families in Bagjata are yet to be compensated but the company refuses to recognize them as oustees,” said a member of the Jharkhand Krantikari Mazdoor Union apparently confirming Maoists demand.
